Dr. Charmaine Byrd is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She started her career as a certified nursing working in geriatric mental health, and medical-surgical care. She went on to complete an associate degree as a registered nurse from Jefferson College of Health Sciences Roanoke, Virginia in 2005.

She then continued her nursing education by obtaining a BSN in 2012, at Kaplan University with honors the national society of collegiate scholars, MSN in 2013, as a nurse educator at Walden University with honors Sigma Theta Tau International in the PHI NU Chapter. At Walden University she completed her doctoral degree as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2016, with honors Sigma Theta Tau International in the PHI NU Chapter, and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions where she pursued a post-doctoral certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. With over 20 years of clinical experience, working in direct patient care settings such as geriatric mental health, clinics, home health care, nursing homes, oncology, hospice, medical-surgical, telemetry, just to name a few, working with diverse populations as a traveling nurse across the United States of America. She has over 9 years of experience working in academia facilitating/lecturing nursing students to realize their dreams of becoming future nurses.
